Richard “Rich” Koldenhoven, 87, of Sheldon died Thursday, March 11, 1999 at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Memorial services were held on Monday, March 15, at 11:30 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. The Reverend Duane Tinklenberg officiated. Private family burial was held at 9:45 A.M. in Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Hospers

Richard was born May 6, 1911 in Lebanon, Iowa, the son of John and Marie (Slappendahl) Koldenhoven. He married Christina Bos on March 6, 1935 in Remsen. The couple lived in Seney, Sanborn, Granville, Orange City and Alden. They retired in Hospers. Mrs. Koldenhoven died October 16, 1987. He entered the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon in 1994.

Mr. Koldenhoven was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, George and Jean of Artesia, California, and Ron and Mary of Rock Valley; four daughters and their husbands: Greta and Gerald Huisman of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lois and Ken Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida, Rachael and Dennis Aanenson of Reading, Minnesota and Alice and Marvin Waanders of Denver, Colorado; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lydia Bos of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
