Last Thursday evening the friends of G. Van Stryland were shocked to hear of his sudden death, caused by apoplexy. He had been well all day, but in the late afternoon received the stroke and fell down unconscious not regaining consciousness any more. He died about 7:15 P.M. at the age of fifty-nine years. The funeral services were held in the Dutch Reformed church, Rev. Van Houte and Rev. Witham of the U.P. church officiating. His remains were laid to rest in the Boyden cemetery. Besides his friends, he leaves his wife and five children, Mrs. Carl Tott, Mrs. Bert Smit, Gerrit Van Stryland and Miss Bertha, all of this place and Mrs. Norman Lowry of Eagle Grove.
