A number of our people went to Middleburg last Saturday to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Hubers, who was operated upon at Cherokee for cancer, but died, not having regained consciousness from the effects of the anesthetic. It was a sad death and gave a great shock to her relatives and many friends. She was well and favorably known here as she had practically spent her whole life around Middleburg. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the bereaved husband and the number of children who survive.

The sad news was received here last week that Mrs. Hubers of Middleburg had passed away at the hospital at Cherokee shortly after she had been operated upon for cancer on the arm and neck. Funeral services were held at Middleburg Saturday, Rev. Douwstra officiating. Remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there. Among those from here that attended the funeral wee the aunt of the deceased, Mrs. A. Versteeg, and daughter Jennie, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Maris and Mrs. Otto Rowenhorst.
