Shirley Ann Figge, 74, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at a medical center in Omaha, following her brief illness. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Kenny Hsu officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton, Iowa. Visitation will be this evening, Friday, October 6th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Shirley was born on September 8, 1943 in Sioux City to Martin and Helen (Kenowith) Dirks. She graduated with the Class of 1961 from Central High School. Shirley married John Figge and was proud to have raised 5 wonderful children. She enjoyed her kids, grandkids, family and friends. Shirley truly enjoyed watching baseball on the Westside as her children grew. She was a terrific homemaker, and enjoyed the hobbies of going to the Hard Rock Casino, gardening, watching Soap Operas, and the HGTV channel on television. Shirley volunteered for Lutheran Social Services taking care of an elderly lady for many years. Shirley and John divorced in the mid-1990s. She was employed for many years in the mailroom at the Sioux City Journal, and was currently working part time. Shirley was a proud member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Shirley is survived by her son Marty Figge of Sioux City, Iowa, Son Brad (Nancy) Figge of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, Daughter Shelly (Dan) Norton of Sioux City, Iowa, son Brian Figge of Denver, Colorado, and son Tony John Figge of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren Brandon Figge, Nick Norton, Allie Norton, Zach Carter, Sam Carter, Tyler Figge, and Tori Figge; sister Loes (Bill) Abbe of South Sioux City, Nebraska, brother Eugene Dirks of Sioux City, Iowa, and sister Karen Dirks of Sioux City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents, and sister Betty Williams.

Casket Bearers for the service will be Brandon Figge, Nick Norton, Tyler Figge, Shaun Williams, Michael Williams, and Kris VonWeihe. Honorary Bearers will be Tori Figge, Allie Norton, Zach Carter, and Sam Carter.
