Sioux County Capital, February 5, 1992

H. John Byker, 69, of Orange City died unexpectedly Monday, January 27 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, January 30, at First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Byker was born September 2, 1922 in Rock Valley. He was raised at Rock Valley and served in the Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Van Iperen, October 17, 1947 in Sheldon. The couple farmed at Sanborn and Ashton until 1971 when they moved to Orange City.

He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters Terri Sievers of Monticello, MN, and Tammy Vander Wel of Maurice; seven brothers, Gary, James and Will all of Hudsonville, MI, Leonard & Bert of Jenison, MI, Donald of Alton, New Hampshire, and Harry of Grand Rapids, MI, two sisters, Catherine Hamstra of Petoskey, MI and Marlene De Pree of Holland, MI and 6 grandchildren.
