Funeral services: A private family gathering will be held at a later date

Survived by: Wife of 53 years, Janet; daughter, Lisa (spouse, Ted) Runkel; grandchildren, Hadley, Harper, and Hudson Runkel; siblings, Carol Dodge, Mike (spouse, Arlene) Fry, Connie Soesbe, Cliff (spouse, Linda) Fry, and Deb (spouse, Doug) Fry; sisters-in-law, Lynn Fry and Brenda Fiscus; brothers-in-law, Elwyn Myhre, Wade (spouse, Darlene) Fiscus, and Dale Fiscus; uncle, Clare (spouse, Mary) McIntosh; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, John V. and Dorothy Ann (nee McIntosh) Fry; infant daughter, Katheryn Ann; siblings, Richard (“Dick”) Fry and Sandra Myhre

Education: Denny attended 7 different schools before graduating from Nevada (IA) High School, Class of 1962

Religious affiliation: Was a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was a reader, eucharistic minister and a member of Knights of Columbus.

Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving for 4 years and spending time at naval bases in San Diego, CA, Rhode Island, and Key West, FL

Marriage: Janet Kay Fiscus; Aug. 25, 1969; State Center, IA

Employment: In June 1978, the family moved to Warroad, MN and Denny started his 32-year career at Marvin Windows and Doors; he retired in 2010 and the couple soon relocated to Harlan, IA to be near family.

Hobbies/Interests: Was very involved in the Warroad, MN community, and had served as a City Council member, acted in several Warroad Summer Theatre productions, and volunteered with the Warroad Lakers, even providing color commentary for away games on the local radio station, KQ92; fishing on Lake of the Woods and following any Minnesota sports teams were also favorite pastimes for both Denny and Janet.
