Education: Attended a one-room country school through grade 8, and then graduated from Villisca (IA) High School, Class of 1956. While there, he participated in football, basketball, and track.

Religious affiliation: Member, Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA; had served as treasurer of the Church Endowment Committee; was also a volunteer participating with worship services.

Military service: U. S. Army National Guard, 8 years

Marriage: Saundra Kay “Sandy” Brown; June 7, 1959; Strand Lutheran Church, Corning, Adams County, IA

Employment: Employed in the agricultural fertilizer and chemical industry, managing retail plants in Shenandoah, Avoca and Hancock, IA, and as a regional manager supervising retail plants in Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge; member, Abu Bekr Shriners; member, Avoca Golf Course Board; member, Villisca Alumni Association Board; volunteer for 16 years on the Avoca (IA) Fire Department; plus many additional Avoca community organizations over the years. Enjoyed golf and spending time with family.
