Education: Attended grade school in Audubon, IA at Country School Jackson #6, and then graduated with the Audubon High School, Class of 1951

Religious affiliation: Member, Elk Horn Lutheran Church, Elk Horn, IA, where he served on the board and had been president of the church council

Military service: U. S. Marines, 1953; received his draft notice and joined the U. S. Army in Jan. 1954. Attended basic training at Fort Riley, KS, and Fort Bliss, TX, before being assigned to Government Island in San Francisco Bay, CA. He was then assigned to the US Weather Bureau at the Oakland, CA, airport where he remained until his discharge in Jan. 1956. Dale was honored to take the Honor Flight to Washington DC, which he was able to take with his brother, son, and a nephew in 2013.

Marriage: Linda A. Sorensen; Nov. 27, 1954; location not provided

Employment: After high school, he was a truck driver for Petersen Brothers until he joined the Marine Corp; after his military time, he returned to Shelby County and farmed.

Hobbies/Interests: Served as a board member and treasurer, Audubon County Farm Bureau; member, Audubon County FHA; member, Audubon County Pork Producers; board member and president, Audubon County Co-op; after the Audubon County Co-op merged with West Central, he served 7 years on the West Central Board; member, Brayton American Legion Post #350; spent several winters in Arizona; loved to play golf and play cards.
