Funeral services: Saturday, May 26, 2018; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, IA; Howard donated his body to the Anatomical Board of the State of Nebraska, with inurnment held at a later date in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, IA

Survived by: Wife of 69 years, Rhoda of Harlan, IA; daughters, Bonnie Fritz (spouse, Kim) of Story City, IA and Patricia Musich (spouse, LaVern) of Roosevelt, UT; sons, Ronald Henriksen of Harlan, IA, Randy Henriksen of Urbandale, IA and L. Charles Henriksen (spouse, Molly) of Urbandale, IA; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Harry Charles and Stella Fredericka (nee Petersen) Henriksen; daughters, Peggy Jo Gragert and 1 in infancy; sister, Marjorie Richards

Education: attended and graduated from Harlan (IA) High School, Class of 1942

Religious affiliation: life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, IA

Military service: U. S. Army, 1945-46, stationed in Occupied Japan

Marriage: Rhoda Irene Jessen; Nov. 28, 1948; Our Savior Lutheran Church, Audubon, IA

Employment: After high school, he helped his father farm and was a farmhand for neighbors and friends; after his marriage, Howard farmed in rural Shelby County, IA until 1971, when he and Rhoda moved into Harlan. From 1965-1980, Howard drove cement trucks for Clark Redi-Mix in Harlan, and also drove truck for G.A. Findley in Harlan. Even after he retired, Howard remained active, and sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners, delivered flowers for the Harlan Flower Shop, and delivered cars for Nelson Auto Sales.

Hobbies/Interests: member, Farm Bureau and Toastmasters; was also a member of the Shelby County VFW Post #941 and served as Commander for 2 years, Vice-Commander for 2 years, and Chaplain for 2 years. He liked cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed watching local high school football.
