Education: graduated from high school at St. Boniface Catholic School, Westphalia, IA; while in high school, Ken played baseball and basketball; he was captain of the basketball team during his senior year when they won 3rd place in the Iowa Catholic High School Basketball Tournament in Des Moines.

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Westphalia, IA; was active in the church and Knights of Columbus.

Employment: After high school, he began farming with his father, and then independently. Later, Ken was an ASC committee member and sold seed corn part-time for numerous years

Hobbies/Interests: loved playing cards with family and friends; after he retired, Ken took up golf and loved the sport, playing into his 90's. When he couldn't be outside, he enjoyed bowling, playing basketball, and playing pool
