Employment: farmed and raised Black Angus cattle; along with farming, Garland worked at the County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) for many years, measuring land.

Hobbies/Interests: Member: Shriners, Masons, and Shelby County Cattlemen, and also served on the Irwin/Kirkman School Board.
