Funeral services for Wilbur E. "Bill" Weaver, 82, Davenport, were held June 17, 1996 at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with burial in the Davenport Memorial Park.
Mr. Weaver died June 13 of heart failure at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport.
The son of Chester E. and Lura B. Sims Weaver, he was born May 16, 1914 in Peoria, Ill. He attended the Davenport schools and graduated from Davenport high school. He attended St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport. He married Lillian Burns in 1946 in Havre, Mont.
Mr. Weaver began work as a "cub" bricklayer for his father, C.E. "Buck" Weaver after World War II. He worked as bricklayer for many years and as a mason contractor after his father retired.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater for 3 years. He served in battle zones in New Guinea and Luzon, and in the Philippine Liberation. He served as a section leader in the 693rd Quarter-Master Truck Co.
Mr. Weaver was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Davenport. He was also a member of Davenport Lodge No. 37 and served as Master in 1964. He was an active, 57 year member of Bricklayers Union Local No. 7 in Illinois.
He enjoyed his family, neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, sports, reading, fishing in Montana and movies.
Mr. Weaver is survived by 3 daughters, Dale-Anne (Mrs. Joe) Broyles, Louisville, Ky.; Barbara (Mrs. Rod) Schwitzer, Tipton; and Patricia Weaver, Maynardville, Tenn.; a son, William and Lori Weaver, Davenport; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, William D., Homeland, Calif.; and a special neighbor, Duane C. Ungs, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995; his parents; and a brother, Russell.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran church or the American Heart Association.
