Funeral services for Richard T. Braet, 84, Durant, were held May 6, 1996 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Wilton, with Father Robert Morton and Father James Conroy officiating. William Tinker was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Pallbearers were Doug Cook, Ron Hansen, Richard Bullard, Ivan Moore, John Heinrich and Jim Braet. Honorary pallbearers were Wes Hein, Harold Petersen, Art Petersen, Ray Jones, Rob Wellner and Chester Funk. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Braet died May 3 at Genesis Medical Center West in Davenport.

The son of Edward and Emma Beyer Braet, he was born March 5, 1912 in Davenport. He married Evelyn M. Six Feb. 20, 1935 in Moline, Ill.

Mr. Braet retired from Nodurft Plumbing and Heating in Durant in 1977. He had owned and operated the Idle Hour Bowling Alley in Durant from 1956 to 1964. He also farmed in Scott county for many years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Wilton and the Greater Davenport Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed playing poker, bowling, fishing and gardening. His home was always surrounded by flowers.

Mr. Braet is survived by his wife; a son, Edward and his wife Jackie Braet, Durant; a brother, Henry Braet, Davenport; 3 grandchildren, Kevin, Wayne and Sara Braet; and 3 great-grandchildren, Amy, Trever and Marshall Braet. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Lena and Margaret; and a brother, Vic.

Memorials may be made to the Durant ambulance.
