Funeral services for Richard E. Stanlake, 75, Dixon, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 24, 1996 at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with burial in the Davenport Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by Dixon American Legion Post No. 353.
Mr. Stanlake died April 22 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
He married Marjorie McCleary in 1950 in Rock Island, Ill.
Mr. Stanlake farmed for several years in Scott county. He also worked for the Scott County Road Maintenance Department.
He served in the Army Air Corps with the 5th Fighter Command in the Pacific Campaign in World War II.
Mr. Stanlake was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rock Island, a 50 year member of the American Legion, past Chef De Gare of the 40 and 8 Unit 77, and a member of the Scott County Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and yardwork.
Mr. Stanlake is survived by his wife; a daughter, Carol (Mrs. Wayne) Beverlin, Houston; 2 grandsons, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Sherwin, Lowden; and Viola (Mrs. Charles) DeWulf, Bennett. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald and a stepson, Gary Spray.
