Funeral services for Bernard R. Hirl, 74, Wilton, were held Feb 27, 1996 at Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Rev. Christine Tinker officiating. Kathy Luethy was the organist and Lori Potts sang. Pallbearers were Wayne Sissel, Randy Lutje, Ron Bohnsack, Kenny Leach, Bruce Potts and Orville Randolph. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery, Wilton.

Mr. Hirl died Feb. 23 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, in Davenport.

The son of George and Loretta Adair Hirl, he was born Feb. 18, 1922 in Eldridge. He married Ruth A. Bangert Jan. 28, 1959 in Davenport.

Mr. Hirl retired from farming in 1975 and worked for HON Industries in Muscatine, retiring in 1684.

He is survived by his wife; 2 step-daughters, Sharon Evans, Chillicothe, Ohio; and Sandra (Mrs. Kenneth) Leach, Wilton; 3 sisters, Genevieve Brus, Cecelia Andresen and Rosalie (Mrs. Henry) Debates, all of Davenport; a brother, Edward Hirl, Walcott; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a step-daughter.

Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance and the Americal Lung Association.
