Last rites for Maurice (Ted) Werling, 70, were held at Davenport Oct. 28 with burial in Memorial park. Mr. Werling died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, Oct. 25.

The son of William V. and Wilma Walters Werling, he was married to Erna Kelting in Rock Island, IL in 1945. He retired in 1972 as a material recovery expert at Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island, IL, where he had worked for 30 years.

He served with the 34th Inf. Division during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for bravery in action during the Rapido River campaign in Italy. He was a member of the Dixon American Legion and the Davenport Elks lodge.

He is survived by his wife; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Goettsch, Davenport; a stepson, Ferd Kelting, East Moline, IL; 6 step-grandchildren; 5 step-greatgrandchildren; a sister, Wilma Rice, Tipton and 3 brothers, Don, Des Moines; Alvin, Wilton and Paul, Cedar Rapids.
