Funeral services for Walter Ahrens, 89, Davenport, were held in Davenport Nov.29 with the Rev. William Beattie, pastor of the Newcomb Presbyterian church, Davenport, officiating.

Burial was in New Liberty cemetery. Pallbearers were Darryl, Keith, Gary, Ellis, Patrick and Michael Ahrens.

Mr. Ahrens died at Davenport Osteopathic hospital following an extended illness, Nov. 27.

The son of John and Frances Ahrens he was born in Fairmont, Neb. Sept. 25, 1891. He married Hazel Fell in Tipton Dec. 2, 1914. The couple farmed in Scott county until retiring and moving to Davenport in 1956.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Cadogen, Davenport; 5 sons, Hubert, Durant; Grover and Ellis, both of New Liberty; George, Kellogg and Gene, Eldridge; 31 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Theresa Allchin and Mrs. Frances Schneckloth, both of Davenport. A son, Robert, and 2 brothers, Hugo and Louis, preceded him in death.
