In 1853, Claudius (Francis) Lagarde was travelling on the Mississippi. He was part of a group of 6 Brothers of the Sacred Heart going to the school and community in Dubuque, Iowa. On 17 June 1853, he fell overboard and drowned near Camanche, IA. His body was found a few days later and identified by another Brother, David Boussuge. He was buried where he was found. The problem is we do not know where that was other than a small town along the Mississippi, south of where he went overboard. Any assistance gratefully received.
