Last rites for Mrs. Ella N. Engel, 80, widow of a former Bennett banker, were held Dec. 14 at Davenport with burial in the Dixon cemetery. Mrs. Engel died Dec. 12 at the Davenport Lutheran home.

Ella Thede was born in Scott county and was married to John Engel in Davenport in 1919. He died in 1958.

They lived in Bennett for a considerable time where he operated the Bennett bank. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Bennett and was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tipton.

She is survived by 2 sons, Wallce C., Brookfield, Wis., and John T., Williamsburg, 8 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Urban F. Ott and a brother, Henry Thede, Davenport.
