ldred “Millie” Mary Murphy, 90, of Eldridge, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House. Memorial services will be Friday, August 26, 2022 at 2 pm at the Runge Mortuary Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Millie was born in Elma, Iowa on April 11, 1932. She was the daughter of Louis A. and Mary V. (Miller) Schmelzer. She graduated from Elma High School. After graduating she was a farmwife for many years. After that, she went to work for Amana Refrigeration for 17 1/2 years before retiring. After retiring from Amana, she worked for Senior Dining in Marengo, IA until moving to Eldridge, Iowa to be closer to her family.

Millie liked to keep busy. She loved her flower gardening, especially moss roses and hydrangea as well as spending time with her cat and guinea pigs. She was well loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed! She was a member of McCausland United Methodist Church where she was very active.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Patricia “Patti” Funte (Irwin Young) Eldridge, grandchildren: Terry Funte, Davenport, Lisa George, Eldridge and Tammy Fields, Davenport; great grandchildren: Samantha Funte, John Funte, Jr., Maximus, Amanda and Maggie Keck, all of Davenport, her beloved cat, Midnight and her Guinea Pigs, Dash and Dart.

Her parents, grandson, John Funte Sr., a sister and three brothers preceded her in death.
