Roy David Schmell
November 25, 1952 — August 10, 2022
Roy David Schmell, age 69, of Blue Grass, Iowa and formerly of Geneseo, Illinois, passed away on August 10, 2022. A celebration of life will be held on September 4, 2022 from 1:00-4:00p.m. at the American Legion in Blue Grass. Memorials may be made to his family.

Roy was born on November 25, 1952 to Harry and Lena (Gibbs) Schmell in Corydon, Iowa. He graduated from J. D. Darnell High School in Geneseo. He was an avid fan of the Geneseo Maple Leafs. He worked for Natural Pipeline for 24 years. He then drove semi. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed listening to country music and watching western and war movies. Visiting with his family and friends was a joy to him.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Brooke Schmell of Geneseo, Illinois, sisters, Lorretta Sandman, Davenport, Jane Mullins of Moravia, Frances (Tony) Paul of Mystic, brothers Everett (Dee) Schmell of Blue Grass and Jimmy (Vickey) of Centerville and his living cat, Snowball, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gerald, Roland, and Ralph, sister Marrianna Picolet, brother-in-laws Bill Sandman and Marv Couchman and his sidekick dog, Maggie.
