Obituary
Darrell D. Sperry, 71, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Moline, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will held on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Iowa.

Darrell was born January 22, 1951 in Davenport, the son of Eugene & Elizabeth (Hazen) Sperry. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly G. Butler on October 21, 2000 in Davenport. They had met while working at Montgomery Ward. Darrell had been previously married to Vickie Sperry.

Darrell will be remembered as dedicated, hard working and a selfless provider who loved his family more than anything. He was a route driver and merchandiser for Sara Lee and had previously been employed with the Nestle Company and Hostess. He was looking forward to retirement in early 2023.

He would always be seen in navy blue and enjoyed his Diet Pepsi and Popcorn Charlie’s. He enjoyed baseball and war movies, will be affectionately remembered as a good listener and loved the company of his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kim; his sons and daughter-in-law, Scott & Sherry Sperry of Camanche, Iowa and Ryan Sperry of Bettendorf; his daughters and sons-in-law, Abby & Adam Berntgen of LeClaire, Iowa and Anna & Tyler Wilson of Davenport; his step-sons, Troy (Stephanie) Stephens of Moline, Matt Cooper of Bettendorf and Paul Cooper of Davenport; his grandchildren, Samantha Sperry, Jacob Sperry, Olivia Berntgen, Kinsley Berntgen, Odin Wilson, Kainan Cooper, Carter Cooper, Cutler Cooper and his grandson arriving soon, Beckham Berntgen; his great-grandson David Sperry; and his brother, Gene Sperry of Bettendorf.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Sperry; his sister, Judy Benson; his sister-in-law, Mary Sperry; and his step-daughter, Sarah Cooper.
