DAVENPORT-Walter "Wally" J. Hageney, 94, of Davenport, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Ridgecrest Village. Cremation rites will be accorded with a Memorial Service planned at a later date due to COVID-19. Inurnment will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the QC Honor Flight Program (Honor Flight of the Quad Cities c/o Ridgecrest Village 4130 Northwest Blvd. Davenport, IA 52806), which Wally had the chance to attend while at Ridgecrest. Wally was born May 15, 1926, to Walter and Mary (Thomas) Hageney in Woodside Long Island, NY. He earned his High School education from St. Ann's Academy in New York. After High School, Walter proudly served in the U.S Navy during WWII and Korea. On June 18, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marcia Liggett at Grace Lutheran Church in Davenport. Walter spent his career as a Travel Agency manager and tour guide for AAA in Muscatine from 1969 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and 500 Card Club. Walter enjoyed traveling, gardening, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and having breakfast with a group of Navy veteran friends every month.

Walter will be missed by his wife of 50 years, Marcia Hageney; daughters: Linda (Jerry) Rogers and Wendy (Josh) Garringer; step-daughter: Marla Brundies; step-son: Craig Liggett; grandchildren: Sean (Michelle) Hein, Heather Hein, Courtney (Jason) Rogers Becker, Mark (Christina) Koenig, Luke (Gi) Koenig and David Koenig; step-grandchildren: Naomi (David Riepe) Kamla and Aaron Kamla; great grandchildren: Rose Hein, Holly Hein, Brendan Sitar, Ava Becker, Isabella Koenig, Victoria Koenig, Elizabeth Koenig, Aamis Koenig, and Wyatt Koenig; and a step-great grandchild, Mason Kamla.
