Funeral services for Eugene Lensch, 39, Long Grove, a native of New Liberty, were held Jan. 9 in Davenport, with burial in the Long Grove cemetery.

A farmer, Mr. Lensch was severely burned Jan. 5 when his clothes were set on fire in a field accident and he died at 3:30 p.m. that day in St. Luke's hospital, Davenport.

The accident occurred while Lensch was attempting to light a water tank heater for a cattle feeder in a field. Fuel oil near the heater ignited and set his clothing afire.

Born in New Liberty, Mr. Lensch lived in that community until he moved to the Long Grove area in 1949.

He married the former Vera Pollock in 1946 in Davenport.

A member of the Farm Bureau, Mr. Lensch was a board member of the Scott County Association for Retarded Children.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Susan Jean and a son, James Steven, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lensch, Davenport; brothers, William, New Liberty and Keith, Bettendorf.
