Bettendorf Man, Ill, Despondent, Takes Own Life

Paul Frederick Paulsen, 48, residing at 1538 Grant street, Bettendorf, committed suicide shortly after 10 a.m. Monday be shooting himself thru the head with a .16 gauge shotgun in a garage at the rear of the home of a brother, Carl Paulsen.

A life resident of the Tri-Cities, Paulsen was born in Moline June 15, 1893 and married Hazel Pieper in Davenport Sept. 5, 1925. For the last seven years he had been employed in the shipping room of the Sieg Co. He was of Lutheran faith.

Survivors are his wife, parents, Mr and Mrs Nels Paulsen, Bettendorf; a sister, Mrs Arthur Quick, Bettendorf, and three brothers, Carl and Andy, both of Bettendorf, and Lawrence, Clinton, Ia.

The body was taken to the McGinnis funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley cemetery.
