Burns Prove Fatal to Davenport Child

Beverly Jean Gamble, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Gamble, of R.R. No. 4, Davenport, died at 6:20 p.m. (CST) Wednesday in University Hospitals, Iowa City, where she had been a patient since Sept. 11.

The child was burned Sept. 10 in the back yard of her home when a bonfire caught the petticoat under her dress. She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital and later transferred to Iowa City.

Beverly was born in Lancaster, Mo., July 20, 1948. She attended Monroe School, Davenport.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Paula May and Donna Verley; three brothers, William R. Jr., Michael and Larry, all at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Floyd, Lancaster, Mo.; and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gamble, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
