T. E. Ingram, a young Davenport lawyer, who graduated from the law department at the State University four years ago, attempted suicide on Thursday evening. He is a hard drinker, and the habit is too strong for his control. He called for a glass of wine at a saloon, which was refused, soon after which he remarked, “I wish to God somebody would blow my brains out.” Instantly he drew a revolver and fired at his breast, saying, “There now, I have finished it! I aimed right for my heart!” On examination it was found a bullet had struck a rib directly over his heart and had passed along its surface for six inches, and was taken out from his side.
