Donald A. Cowlham, age 78, of Odebolt, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Pastor Bill Crawford will officiate. Committal will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Donald A. Cowlham, one of two children born to George and Viola (Kropf) Cowlham, was born on August 7, 1940, on the family farm in Sac County, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Odebolt, Iowa, where he attended country school. Don graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1958. After graduation Don furthered his education and attend a trade school in Des Moines, Iowa.

Don enlisted into the United States Army on May 1, 1965 and actively served his country from 1968 to 1969. In 1969, Don was honorably discharged and returned home to farm the family farm.

Don lived a good life and enjoyed working hard. He passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 27, 2019. His memory will be fondly remembered and missed.

Don is survived by his sister DeLoris Coulter of Claysville, Pennsylvania; nephews Thomas Coulter, Timothy Coulter and Todd Coulter; two great nephews and one great niece; extended family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents George and Viola Cowlham; brother-in-law Sunny Coulter; and cousin Ralph “Bud” Cowlham.
