Helen Lucile Baker, daughter of Ralph and Effie Kilgore Bacon, was born July 23, 1913, on a farm near Cromwell,in Adams County, Iowa and departed this life May 15, 1966, in the Ringgold County Hospital at Mount Ayr, at the age of 52 years, 10 months, and 22 days.

On February 187, 1931, at Bethany, Missouri, she was united in marriage with Lyman Baker, and they made their first home in Mount Ayr, where they lived for seven years. Of this union were born a daughter Cheryl (Mrs. Robert Smith), of Des Moines, and seven sons, Gerald, Darrel, R. D. and Kenneth, of Des Moines, Richard of Compton, Calif., and Robert and Terry, of the home. She also reared and loved as her own, two stepdaughters, Rosemary (Mrs. Darold Blauer), of Garrison, Minn., and Evelyn (Mrs. Daryl Bradley), of Minneapolis, Minn.

After removing from Mount Ayr, the family lived in Tingley for seven years and then moved to Kellerton for the next 21 years and until the time of her passing. On Easter April 17, 1949, she joined the Methodist Church at Kellerton, where she was a faithful member and worker. All of her children enjoyed her as a wonderful mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her devoted husband and children, 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Mildred Cheek of Des Moines; three aunts; an uncle, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held May 17, from the Kellerton Methodist Church, conducted by Mrs. Cela Fugate and the Rev. Thomas D. Hersey. Allen Hughes sang, accompanied by Mrs. Weldon Meadows, and casketbearers were Jack Corll, Richard O'Dell, Darrell Powers, Lawrence Combs, Floyd Hanks and Francis Virden. Interment was in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
