OBITUARY - MARGARET AUXIER

On Sunday evening at the home of her son, Rev. E. E. AUXIER, Mrs. Margaret AUXIER departed this life. Margaret (WHIPP) AUXIER was born in Russellville, Lexington County, Ky., on December 1st, 1818. She removed to Illinois in 1828, was united in marriage to Eli V. AUXIER in 1838, of this union there were born six children, four of whom died in infancy and two are yet living, Rev. Eli E. AUXIER an efficient minister of the Baptist Church and Mrs. Lydia A DADY, of Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Mrs. AUXIER suffered the loss of her husband in 1848, and upon her devolved the entire care of her family, and her children gratefully testify that she faithfully discharged the duties of a mother.

In 1870 Mrs. AUXIER came with her children to Athens Township, Ringgold County, where she has since resided. She was a member of the M.E. Church, having united with that church in 1829.

The funeral services were conducted by B. F. MILLER, Pastor of the Kellerton M.E. Church, at the church in Kellerton, on May 21st. The discourse was from John XIV:l-2. The principal thought was "God's merciful provision for the welfare of his children here and in the future," and the thought was illustrated by the earnest Christian life and triumphant death of this mother in Israel. There was a large attendance of friends who followed her to her last resting place in the Kellerton [Maple Row] Cemetery.
