Thursday, April 26, 2018OBITUARY ~ DONNA MARIE (TINDLE) JOHNSON
June 19, 1926 ~ April 17, 2018Donna Marie (Tindle) Johnson, daughter of Sarah Mae (Parker) and James Wyant Tindle was born June 19, 1926 on the family farm Northwest of Diagonal. Donna Marie attended country school then went to High School in Diagonal and graduated in 1944. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church and later switched to the Methodist Church.
Donna Marie was united in marriage to Perry Johnson on February 24, 1946 on the family farm. Perry was stationed in Alaska and she joined him there. After serving two years in Alaska they returned to Diagonal.
Donna Marie and Perry had seven children; Joe, Jim, Jack, Jay, Jan, Jil and Jerry.
In 1966 Donna Marie and Perry purchased the Diagonal Café from Wilbur and Josephine Maudlin. They ran the café until 1974 when Perry, Donna Marie, Jil and Jerry moved to Red Oak so Perry would be closer to work. In May 1981 Donna Marie and Perry moved to Creston.
Donna passed away on April 17, 2018 at the Creston Specialty Care in Creston, Iowa.
Left to cherish Donna Marie’s memory are her daughter Jil Johnson (Jim Hartman) of Corning; three sons Joe Johnson of Creston, Jim (Elaine) Johnson of The Colony, Texas and Jay (Vicky) Johnson of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren Sarah (Oscar) Venegas of El Paso, Texas, Heath (Melissa) Johnson of Carlisle, Ben (Dawn) Johnson of Des Moines, Tara Champlin of Corning and Sara (Dan) Coleman of Hopkins, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren Emma, Joseph and Noah Venegas of El Paso, Texas, MacKenzie, Madison and Mira Johnson of Carlisle, Savannah, Sophia and Shay Johnson of Des Moines, Ethan Fry and Allivea Wyer of Corning and Owen Coleman of Hopkins, Missouri; brother-in-law Elvin (Rebecca) Johnson of Virginia.
Donna Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Perry; son Jack in 1949; daughter Jan in 1971; son Jerry in 2001; grandsons Christopher in 1979 and Richie in 1983; brother and sister-in-law Max and Marilyn Tindle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Cecil and Darlene Johnson.
