OBITUARY ~ NORMA LEE (BAILEY) SICKELS
October 19, 1929 ~ February 25, 2018

Norma Lee Bailey daughter of George Archibald “Archie” Bailey and Blanche Marie (Moore) Bailey was born on October 19, 1929. Norma lived with her parents and siblings on a farm just north of Redding, Iowa. She attended the Redding, Iowa school as a girl. Norma married John Keith Sickels in Troy, Kansas December 21, 1946 and divorced later in life. This family was blessed with five daughters and a son: Cynthia, Diane, Lana, Lora, Lesa, and Jeff Sickels. As a mother of five daughters she became a very talented seamstress making many dresses for proms, Rainbow Girls, and weddings. That was not her only talent however; baking bread, doughnuts, and making chicken and noodles were enjoyed by all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at family gatherings.

Norma was involved in the Ringgold County Extension Service and received an award for Homemaker of the Year as well as Farm Family of the year in 1972. She also was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Norma was employed by Continental Telephone Company for twenty-?ve years and also became a broker for Iowa Realty.

Norma passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jack Bailey; brother-in-law Gordon Parker; son-in-law Charlie Case; great grandchildren Alyssa Kuonen and Jacob Klinger.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Bessie Jean Parker; children, Cynthia (Richard) Hill, Diane Case, Lana (Carey) Crowson, Lora (Rick) Stull, Lesa (Tim) Saville, and Jeff (Amy) Sickels; 20 grandchildren: Hilare (Scott) Klinger, Nathan (Mimi) Hill, Alex (Heather) Hill, Suzi (Bill) Schaefer, Karen (Allen) Shannon, Nancy Elmer, Randi (Dan) Lancelotti, Michael (Andrea) Crowson, Matthew (Tracy) Crowson, Jonathan Crowson, Steven (Tyra) Stull, Annie (Erin) Main, BayLee (Lisa) Stull, Joe Saville, Garrett (Traci) Reynolds, Ashley (Chris) Kuonen, Hannah Saville, Ben Saville, Maci (Andy) Binder, and Zane Sickels; 40 great grandchildren, and two more to arrive in April; two great-great-grandchildren. As well as the Parker nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Pastor Darin Dolecheck will be the officiant. Musicians will be Carey Crowson, Andy Binder, and Grace Warin.

Casket bearers will be Hilare Klinger, Nathan Hill, Alex Hill, Suzi Schaefer, Karen Shannon, Nancy Elmer, Randi Lancelotti, Michael Crowson, Matthew Crowson, Jonathan Crowson, Steven Stull, Annie Main, BayLee Stull, Joe Saville, Garrett Reynolds, Ashley Kuonen, Hannah Saville, Ben Saville, Maci Binder, and Zane Sickels

Norma will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Memorials will be to HCI Care Services of Mount Ayr.
