OBITUARY ~ MARY ELIZABETH (SNETHEN) GUNTER
November 11, 1915 ~ July 01, 1985

Thursday, July 11, 1985

Mary Elizabeth Gunter, daughter of Albert and Gene Snethen, was born November 11, 1915, in Ringold County, Iowa, and passed away July 1, 1985 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, eight months and 11 days.

On March 1, 1936, she was united in marriage with Harry E, Gunter, and of this union was born one daughter, Phyllis.

She spent her life in Ringgold County, was a member of the United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary.

Mary always enjoyed being with family and friends and was always willing to help when needed.

She was active in bowling as long as her health permitted.

Because of her ability to instruct crocheting, many of her friends and neighbors are still enjoying this pastime.

Left to cheris her memory are her daughter, Phyllis Evans, son-in-law Bob Evans, grandsons Ted Evans, Ron Evans and wife Beth, and two great-grandchildren, Mindy and Rachel, all of Red Oak, Iowa. Also four sisters and two brothers, Mildred Vosler, Roena Adams and Joseph Snethen, all of Mount Ayr; Vesta Gibson of Safford, Arizona; Vera Liermann of Wisner, Nebraska; and Rex Snethen of Green Bay, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held July 5, 1985, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Ed Kail. Music was provided by Mrs. Robert Thomas and Arlen Hughes.

Casketbearers were Gail Mapes, Rick Adams, Steve Adams, Mzx McGehee, David Hightshow and Darrell Snethen. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Trask, Homer Butler, Lowell Greene, Marvin Black, Richard Routh and Chuck Liermann. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa
