OBITUARY ~ ARIEL FAYETTE KNAPP
April 20, 1896 ~ December 17, 1956

The sudden death of Ariel F. Knapp Monday was a shock to his many friends and relatives and the whole community. however he had not been in the best of health for some time, but kept busy with his usual tasks without complaint. Early Monday he had seemed in usual health, and drove uptown on a business errand, returning shortly very ill with a heart attack, which ended his life in two hours despite medical aid.

For the past number of years he has served as school secretary, also for the Knapp Construction Co.; treasurer, lineman and trouble shooter for the local telephone company, and was able, capable and willing to do most kinds of electrical work and odd jobs of repair work of all kinds for neighbors and friends, often without recompense.

Mr. Knapp enjoyed serving the people and community in every way he felt he could. It would be hard to find any one person to take his place in the community. He will be greatly missed.

Casket bearers were George Hawk, John Shafer, Rex Galloway, Earl Kelly, Lawrence Barker and Ronald Caldwell. Interment was made in Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, IA.

[Ariel was born in Masonville, Delaware County, IA, the son of Dorland Elias and Nettie May (Forber) Knapp. He married Eva Gladys Scott February 3, 1921, Redding IA. He was a World War I veteran, U.S. Army, Company C, 351 Infantry from May 25, 1918 to June 7, 1919.]
