FREDRIC DEAN "FRED" FOGLE

Fredric Dean FOGLE, the son of Marlin E., formerly of Diagonal, and Dorothy FOGLE, was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1936. He grew up in New Jersey with his brother Stephen FOGLE and sister Karen (FOGLE) RUSSELL. Fredric graduated from West Orange High School, New Jersey, and in 1959 from Ohio State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Next to his senior picture in the high school yearbook is the quote, "Knowledge is power."

Fredric was the president of A.V.S., Inc., a company which was founded by his father Marlin in the 1940's. Q.V.S., Inc. which plots out designs and schematics for components such as circuit boards and multi-deck switches. Fred invented the overload relay for a multi-meter tester, which measured electrical properties in ohms, amps, and volts across a range of magnitudes. In the mid-1970's this product was sold to the U.S. Air Force after it met all government specifications. The company continues to sell sophisticated equipment to the U.S. military.

Fred served as communications officer aboard "USS Rushmore" during the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba. He was in charge of several construction projects at Paris Island Marine Base in South Carolina while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Fred retired in 1990. Fred and his wife Susie made serveral trips to Iowa, visiting relatives and friends. They enjoyed the recreational area northwest of Diagonal, a 45-acres manmade like with rental cabins and camping facilities, which was named Fogle Lake after Fred's father, Marlin.

Mr. and Mrs. FOGLE were the parents of two sons and a daughter.

Fred FOGLE died of cancer on November 20, 2005. He was interred at Mendham Borough, New Jersey.
