OBITUARY - ADAM N. BEATTY

Adam N. BEATTY, oldest son of John and Sarah (NELSON) BEATTY, was born June 13, 1865, near Mendota, Ill., and passed away at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, July 14, 1936, at the age of 71 years, one month and one day.

He leaves to mourn his going his devoted wife, Mrs. Sarah BEATTY; five daughters, Mrs. Grover HARDIN, Mrs. William DAWSON, Miss Joey BEATTY and Miss Louise BEATTY all of Des Moines, and Mrs. O. H. WALCOTT of St. Paul, Minn; one son, J. M. BEATTY, of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Annabelle SMITH, of Evanston, Ill.; three brothers, S. E. BEATTY of Bloomington, Ill., J. C. BEATTY of Murray, and Will BEATTY of Des Moines, besides a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Two sons preceded him in death, one son dying in childhood and Don just a few years ago.

Addie, as he was known to many, resided in Ringgold and Taylor counties a number of years, just moving to Des Moines a few years ago, where he was engaged in the service station business. He was sick only a few minutes, the end coming suddenly.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning and he was laid to rest beside his son in the Resthaven cemetery in Des Moines.

Was Member of Masonic Groups

The death of Addie BEATTY -- oldest son of the late John and Sarah BEATTY, and for most of his life a resident of this community, was announced as having occurred in Des Moines at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

There are a number of children, all residing in or near Des Moines. He was known to be suffering from a kidney disorder, and this is supposed to have led to his death. The funeral is set for 10:30 today, Thursday -- with interment in Resthaven Cemetery, Des Moines.

OBITUARY - ADAM N. BEATTY

Adam Nelson BEATTY, the oldest son of John and Sarah (NELSON) BEATTY, was born near Mendota, Illinois, on June 13th, 1865, and died at his home in East Des Moines on Tuesday, July 14, 1936 -- at the age of 71 years, 1 mo., and 1 day.

He came with his parents to Ringgold county back in the pioneer days, and grew to manhood on the farm seven miles northeast of Clearfield. After his marriage, they resided on his own farm on the North Diagonal road and except for some short periods, his life was spent in this community until his removal to Des Moines about 12 years ago.

He leaves the faithful wife -- Mrs. Sarah BEATTY --and the following children: five daughters, Mrs. Grover HARDIN, Mrs. William DAWSON, Miss Joey BEATTY, and Miss Louise BEATTY -- all residents of Des Moines, and Mrs. P. H. WALCOTT of St. Paul, Minn. also one son, J. Mayo BEATTY of Des Moines. Two sons preceded him in death. There is one sister, Mrs. Annabelle SMITH of Evanston, Illinois; and three brothers, S. E. BEATTY of Bloomington Illinois, J. C. BEATTY of Murray, Iowa, and Will BEATTY of Des Moines.

Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Des Moines, where rests the body of one son -- Don BEATTY -- after the services on Thursday at the Hamilton Funeral Home.
