LYNCH RITES HELD TODAY

Thomas Edwin Lynch, 87, of 1509 Elm St. in Grinnell died Saturday morning, July 14, at Grinnell General Hospital. He had been a resident of Friendship Manor in Grinnell for the past two months.

Funeral services for Thomas Lynch were held at 2 p.m. Monday July 16, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Russell of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at Sheridan Cemetery.

Born Sept. 5, 1891, in Sheridan Township, he was the son of William and Elizabeth Ann Deeds Lynch. He attended rural schools near the family farm.

On March 12, 1913, he married Mary Henrietta Oltrogge. The couple farmed in Sheridan, Malcom and Grant Townships before moving to their home in Grinnell in 1952.

He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1266, and had been steward of the lodge for the past 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Tom, John and Ernest; and a sister, Mrs. August (Carrie) Staecker. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel Hixson of What Cheer, and a number of nieces and nephews.
