DORIS EAMES

Doris Eames, 69, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown with her family by her side.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor John Epperson officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

Memorials may be designated to the Doris A. Eames Memorial Fund to create a nursing scholarship fund at Marshalltown Community College. Doris Ann Audas was born the daughter of Eldon F. Audas and Doris Maxine Donnan Audas on Sept. 20, 1948, in Grinnell. She was raised and educated in Grinnell and Newton.

Doris married Patrick Lynch and they had two sons. She married Leon Jensen in 1975 and they had a son. She married David Chizek on Jan. 25, 1984, in Garner, and they had a daughter. On June 30, 1998, Doris married Tom Eames at the Church of God in Lynnville and the couple lived in Gilman until Tom's death in 2008.

At the age of 36, she earned her nursing degree from Marshalltown Community College and began her longtime career of caring for patients at Marshalltown Hospital, Grinnell General Hospital, and later at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell, Southridge Care Center and Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, baking and traveling to see her family.

Doris is survived by her sons, Todd Lynch of Marshalltown, Tony Lynch of Gilbert, Ariz., and Clay Jensen of Marshalltown; daughter, Carrie Rognes of Ankeny; 11 grandchildren with one of the way; three great grandchildren with one on the way; and siblings, Norma Lynch of Marshalltown, Dick Audas of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Ritter of Gilman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Tom Eames, in 2008.
