Roderick McBlain, 74, of the 2300 block of East Madison Avenue died of cancer Sunday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. McBlain was a retired route driver for Pepsi-Cola Co. and was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a son, Roderick Jr., of Des Moines; three daughters, Ronda Kent of Bellevue, NB, and Tracy Petty and Kimberly Baker, both of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
NOTE: Roderick McBlain was the son of Archibald C. and Maud M. Heath McBlain who are buried in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, Iowa. He was married to Charlotte Tew with whom he had 3 children: Michael, Debbie and Linda Kay. After divorcing, Charlotte remarried to Gerald A. Press and he adopted her children.
