ANTHONY JAY 'JAY' DARRAH

Anthony Jay "Jay" Darrah, 54, of Clinton (MT) and formerly of our area, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his home of natural causes.

A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Clinton Community Church with Pastor Richard Robison officiating. Cremation was under the care of Garden City Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at gardencityfh.com. Donations may be made to the family at 18550 East Mullan Rd., Clinton, MT 59825.

Jay was born June 29, 1962, in Chariton, Iowa, to Donald and Janice Darrah. Jay graduated from Grinnell High School in Grinnell and shortly after that moved to Montana with his brother Jeff. He became a meat cutter at an early age in the Missoula area, and eventually became the meat manager for Safeway.

On Aug. 25, 1990, he married Kristy Dosch in Missoula. The couple lived in Clinton, Mont., and had two children.

He was an avid outdoorsman and skilled hunter, usually planning his next hunting trip and/or adventure. He was always willing to help the less fortunate either by cutting firewood or providing deer or elk for those who needed it. Everyone knew Jay could cut up an animal, and he did that for many people who needed such.

Jay and his family loved being outdoors, whether shed hunting, ice fishing, riding horses or trapping. He was a big part of the Missoula High School Rodeo Team and loved helping with events and helping his barrel-racing daughter, while he and his son spent time together fishing, trapping, hunting, and fixing broken-down vehicles.

Jay is survived by his wife Kristy; children Wyatt and Jaylene; his parents; siblings Jeff Darrah, Jill Darrah Koetter and Dustin Darrah; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
