-------------------

Ora Ellsworth Perry, an old resident of Gilman died at 2:45 Monday afternoon at his home of a complication of diseases, following a heart attack suffered April 6.

Mr. Perry was born near Princeton in Bureau county, Illinois, July 29, 1866. His father died when he was 6 years old and at 12 years he came to Iowa to live with his brother, Wilbur, in Pottawattamie county, where he engaged in farming for years. In 1890 he came to Marshall county. In 1892 he was married to Miss Alice Clay of Newburg and then moved to Lyon county, where he and Mrs. Perry made their home for two years.

They moved to Jasper county, in 1900, remaining there seventeen years. They had since made their home in Gilman.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry were the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Oliver Girkin, and a son, Fay Perry. The widow and two children survive Mr. Perry.

For many years Mr. Perry farmed and raised thoroughbred live stock, specializing in Guernsey cattle and Poland China hogs. Because of failing eyesight he was compelled to give up many of his activities and in late years spent much of his time listening to Mrs. Perry read.

He was a member of Eden lodge, I.O.O.F., and Wisteria Rebekah lodge of Gilman.

Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon from the home at Gilman, in charge of Rev. Mr. Phillips.
