Cedar Rapids, IAMAN DIES IN 40 ACRE GRINNELL BRUSH FIRE
GRINNELL, Iowa - A man is dead after a grass fire in Poweshiek County.
Firefighters responded around 2:45 Saturday afternoon after someone reported a lot of smoke between Highway 6 and 20th Street, west of Grinnell.
Crews found 86 year old Bernhard Wiltfang where flames started. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire burned about 40 aces and 70 hay bales.
The department says the fire and fatality appear to have been accidental.
