BARBARA JEAN BOOTS

Barbara Boots, 67, of Grinnell earned her heavenly wings November 20, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life gathering and reception has been scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 8th, at St. Francis Manor Social Center in Grinnell.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Barbara Boots Memorial Fund.

Barbara was born November 30, 1949, in Grinnell, the daughter of Eugene Kenneth Dayton and Catherine June Haines. She grew up in Grinnell and attended school there. She later moved to Central City where she met Everett Eugene Boots.

On December 31, 1967, she was united in marriage with Everett Boots, in Central City. To this union three children were born, Michael, Jason and Amanda.

Barb was employed for 35 years as an assistant underwriter at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. She retired in December of 2014.

Barb's life centered around her family and grandchildren. She loved them dearly! Her hobbies included researching and documenting the genealogy of her family history. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and quilting and craftwork.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Angele) Boots of Colo, Jason (Shelley) Boots of Colo and Amada Boots of Grinnell; her father, Eugene Dayton of Grinnell; four sisters, Sally Mills of Grinnell, Kelly Garwood of Grinnell, Linda Neels of Montezuma and Dawn Farmer of Gainesville, Florida; one brother, Gary Dayton of Searsboro; nine grandchildren, Devon Boots, Zachary Boots, Joshua Fiscus, Jr., Jonathan Hansen, Khloe Hansen, Skyler Hass, Jacob Boots, Christian Haase and Cameron Haase; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Boots; her mother, Catherine Haines Dayton Akers; her step-father, Robert D. Akers; her step-grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
