RUTH MASCHMANN, 73

Ruth Maschmann, 73, died on Thursday, July 12, 2003, at her home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at St. James Lutheran Church, Victor. The Rev. Alan Hafner of St. James Lutheran Church officiated. Organist was Pam Cronbaugh. Casket bearers were Ed Maschmann, Matt Maschmann, Mike Maschmann, Scott Maschmann and Tom Kurovski. Interment was at Victor Memorial Cemetery in Victor. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ruth Maschmann memorial fund.

Ruth was born on February 5, 1930, to Earl and Mary Newton of Belle Plaine. She was raised and attended schools in Belle Plaine.

Ruth was married to Louis Ray Maschmann on Sept. 22, 1947, in Victor. Following their marriage, the couple farmed north of Victor. Ruth was baptized and confirmed on March 1, 1948, at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid at that church.

Ruth enjoyed baking and gardening in her spare time. She held a fond love for her animals, especially her horses.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Maschmann of Hartwick; two grandchildren, Bobbie and Lisa Maschmann of Aurora, Colo.; and one great-grandchild, Kai Maschmann of Aurora, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Ray; her two sons, Joseph and Steven; and her sister, Betty Pawlak.
