The Grinnell (IA) Herald

--Frances H. Williams was born in Newport, N.H., February 21, 1851. She came to Grinnell with her mother in 1861. She was converted and united with the Congregational church at Chester February 4, 1866. She was married to William Hays January 1 1868, and shortly afterwards united with the Baptist church in Grinnell, of which her husband was a member. Moving to Grinnell in 1892, this has been her residence since until her death, Tuesday March 28, at 3:30 P.M. There are left to mourn her loss her husband, William Hays; her three sons, and one daughter, Myrtle; three grandchildren; a brother, Albert G. Williams, in California; a sister, Mrs. A.H. Sherman, in Kansas, and her father, in California. The funeral occurred at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. G.E. Morpjy, pastor of the Baptist church.

This in brief is the story of a woman who lived a sincere christian life to bless the community in which the most of her days were spent. In Chester no names are more highly honored than those of the earliest settlers, among which are the names of Hays and Williams. The deceased was a woman of high hopes, earnest and pure in her life, modestly doing her part to build up the cause of Christ in the world. Her death is a loss to the community and to the church.

--We wish to express our gratitude and thanks to the many friends who assisted us so kindly during the illness of our wife and mother, and for the many expressions of love at the funeral.
Wm. M. Hays and Family.
