Philip Kirchner, 90, Early Grain Dealer, Passes
Cumberland – Philip Kirchner, 90 years old, passed away at 4 a.m. today at the home of his son, Edwin Kirchner, of Cumberland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Griswold. Interment will be in Griswold Cemetery. Mr. Kirchner was born at Donnellson, Ia., Oct 31, 1857. He married Miss Sophia Girhenmeier Dec. 22, 1884. Mr. Kirchner was in the grain business at Cumberland and at Griswold for many years. Survivors are one son, Edwin, of Cumberland, and one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Kaldenburg of Santa Ana, Cal; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1919 and by a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Showalter, in 1920.
