Obituaries – Thelma Mercer
Rites were held for Thelma B. Mercer, 83, at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Griswold with the Rev. James Oschwald officiating. Burial was in Griswold Cemetery. She died Friday at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Mrs. Mercer was born June 3, 1905 in Illinois, the daughter of Chris C. and Julia B. Beedle Ritz and in 1923 graduated from the Lewis High School. She was married to Marion Hansen Feb. 6, 1924 in Atlantic. Mr. Hansen died in 1943 and she was later married to Howard G. Mercer at Papillion, Neb., Feb. 27, 1946 and the couple lived in various places in California until returning to Griswold two years ago. Surviving are her husband, Howard; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Marion Hansen, and a sister, Marye Peebles.
