Memory: Jill and Kane Jirak
Funeral for Jill Jirak, a former Henderson resident, and infant son Kane Jirak was held Tuesday at 10 m. at the Shell Rock United Methodist Church with the Rev. Realaff Ottesen officiating.
Jill Jirak died August 9 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly from complications during Childbirth.
Kane Jirak died August 9 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City from complications of Childbirth.
Jill Jirak was born December 5, 1970, in Red Oak to Darry and Mary (McMartin) Achenbaugh. She graduated from Lafayette C1 Higginsville, Missouri and from Simpson College in 1993 with a bachelor's degree.
She was employed as an appraiser for Jerry Jorgensen Company.
Mrs. Jirak and husband, Mark, were married July 10, 1993.
Mrs. Jirak was preceded in death by her father in 1984 and grandfather in 1978.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Taylor; mother Mary and stepfather Lester Homfeld of Higginsville, Missouri; a brother Cory and his wife, Tara, of Minden; stepsister Michelle Homfeld and stepbrother Tim Homfeld, both of Higginsville; father in law David Jirak of Lawler; mother in law Carol Jirak of New Hampton; grandparents Bill and Muriel McMartin of Carson, Velva Achenbaugh of Davenport, Orella Schwickerath of New Hampton, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation with the family was held Monday at the Kaiser Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock.
Burial was held Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Farm Creek Cemetery near Henderson.
Memorials may be offered to Taylor Jirak's education or church of donor’s choice.
