August Alfred Schoening
August Alfred Schoening, route 1, Council Bluffs, died suddenly Thursday night at his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:15 p.m. at the James-Reid chapel in Glenwood, and at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church in Mineola. The Rev. O.C. Biermann will conduct rites, with burial in Mineola cemetery.
Mr. Schoening had lived on the same farm south of Council Bluffs for 54 years. He and his wife observed their golden wedding anniversary March 21, 1944.
Surviving are: his widow, Mary; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Heitman of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Harvey Eitman of Treynor; five sons, Arthur of Mineola, Earl of Glenwood, Wilbert of Council Bluffs, Lee of Oakland, and Allen Schoening of Macedonia; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Nitt of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Claude Elliott of Denver, Col., Mrs. Bertha Durfee and Mrs. John Herr of Council Bluffs; five brothers, Ferdinand Schoening of Glenwood, Theodore, Emil, Same and Joe of Mineola.
