Maxwell Mystery & Holland families -1855-1890

MAXWELL, HOLLAND, HOSFORD, EMERSON

Mary Ellen Hosford, born 11/1837 in Indiana lived in someone else's household in Story County as a servant after her father died. The elder Hosford's estate was probated in Louisa County.
But then she has a child in 1859 in Polk County. That child is named Clarissa Ann Maxwell - but there is no Mr. Maxwell, unless someone can turn up an Iowa marriage we never heard of.
In 1860 she is living as ME Hosford with her mother Hannah, who has remarried,in Story County. Then Mary Ellen married a Mr. Holland and takes Clarissa to Kansas. M. Holland is now her stepfather.
Now the Hollands from that area of Iowa appear to already be cousins through my great grandmother Rosanna Holland who died in Cedar County Missouri as the spouse of Francis Marion Emerson. Because Clarissa later comes back to Iowa for a visit and meets Rosanna's middle son Leonard Emerson who was apparently visiting family as well and marries him.
But who is the Clarissa Maxwell baby daddy? Lots of Maxwells in that part of Iowa in the mid 1850s.

Maxwell / Holland / Hoford / Emerson
